Summary
This short video covers the Australian Services Union’s successful Equal Pay campaign for women working in the community and disability services section. The campaign, which had its impetus from a successful campaign in Queensland in 2009, saw Fair Work Australia significantly increase wages for these workers in 2012. The film draws heavily on news and media coverage, campaign footage, stills and impromptu interviews with campaign participants. There is an appearance of Prime Minister Julia Gillard in which she announces to cheering women that the Federal Government will fund its share of the pay increase.
